A strange belief indeed !

Iles Vierges does indeed mean Virgin Islans, but it seems much more likely that he means the British Virgin Islands. Why should you assume otherwise ?

In fact, the official name of the British Overseas Territory is simply "The Virgin Islands".

i am well aware of the british virgin islands, however, here was his origninal list:

my reference was to 'etats-unis', meaning the u.s., and the u.s. virgin islands as he was asking for the caribbean area. the cousin has not responded so i am not aware this is part of his request.

"Etats-Unis", as you know, just means United States, so perhaps he means United States. He has, after all, included Guyana on the South American mainland, so perhaps he includes Florida as the mainland end of the Caribbean.

then it would be no problem for him to receieve correspondence from cajun as i live in florlda. however, i do believe he was still referring to the u.s. virgin islands. and they do have a unique zip code unto themselves.

We won't know unless he tells us.

But he has included Puerto Rico separately from the United States, and on the mainland he has included Venezuela and Surinam as well as Guyana and the United States.

i believe i saw this same message posted on the french forum. perhaps he seeks cousins in these areas who also speak spanish as he does. there are latinos in my family as well - filipino, cuban and mexican.

Well, I don't know how much Spanish is spoken in Surinam, and he hasn't put this on the Spanish forum.
